The Department provides an assessment and treatment service in all fields of adult rehabilitation medicine. This is offered to both outpatients and inpatients of St Vincent’s Private Hospital. 

Our Services

 

St Vincent's Private Hospital has a 12 bed State of the Art Rehabilitation Unit with a gym, communal therapy areas, a day rehabilitation hospital and a hydrotherapy pool.

Conditions treated include:

  • Musculoskeletal rehabilitation for patients with fractures, arthritis, soft tissue injuries, fractured hip, joint replacements and multiple trauma
  • Neurological disease such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, neuropathy or myopathy
  • Older peoples general rehabilitation including decreased mobility, incontinence and falls prevention
  • Amputee rehabilitation – pre-operative assessments, pain management assessment and treatment
  • Traumatic brain injury and acquired brain injury
  • Chronic pain and chronic fatigue
  • Work injury rehabilitation
  • Motor accident rehabilitation
  • Developmental disability
  • Medico-legal assessment

The service assesses people and refers them to appropriate rehabilitation hospitals and outpatient services in their area. Special interests of the service members include:

  • Post stroke rehabilitation
  • Musculosketal rehabilitation
  • Pain management
  • Interventional procedures in pain management are also offered
  • Online pain management

This service also sees patients using telehealth via computer, smart phone or tablet.  This assists patients in rural settings and in aged care facilities.
