Services include management of:
- Menstrual dysfunction
- Endometriosis and other causes of chronic pelvic pain
- Vaginal Surgery including hysterectomy and prolapse surgery
- Colposcopy and the management of the abnormal Pap smear
- Menopause management
- Pelvic tumours and gynaecological malignancy
- Infertility and endocrine disturbances
- Gynaecological problems in organ transplant patients
- Gynaecological emergencies including pain, haemorrhage and infection
- Reproductive surgery
Urogynaecology and Urodynamics
A substantial service is available in all aspects of Urogynaecology with full urodynamic facilities (Prof Bernard Haylen and A/Prof Joseph Lee). Assessment and management of all urogynaecological conditions such as stress incontinence, bladder overactivity, uterine and vaginal prolapse and voiding dysfunction is provided.
Botox for the female pelvic floor and pelvic floor ultrasound is also available.
Prof Haylen is the immediate past Chair, Standardization Steering Committee, INternational Continence SOciety (ICS) and Editor, ICS Glossary.
A/Prof Joseph Lee is currently on the Board of Examiners for the RANZCOG, and is the RANZCOG CU exam coordinator. He has been on numerous other international committees. A/Prof Lee is Journal reviewer for a number of national and international Medical Journals.
Endogynaecology
The department of Gynaecology provides a number of extensive trained and experienced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic ("keyhole" or minimally invasive), surgeons, the majority having worked in the area since its inception or development. (Drs Jenny Dew, Surya Krishnan, Vince Lamaro and A/Prof Joseph Lee). All surgeons have performed numerous procedures, and offer a range of advanced laparoscopic procedures including for endometriosis, pelvic pain, reproductive surgery, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic tumours and pelvic floor continence and prolapse surgery and pelvic tumours.
Obstetrics
Dr Surya Krishnan provides a comprehensive obstetric service.
Robotic Surgery
Both A/Prof Joseph Lee and Dr Vince Lamaro perform robotic surgery.
