The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition encompasses all areas of nutrition from prevention and treatment to management of a wide variety of diseases.

Headed by Dr David Mann, the Department is also active in research into various areas of Dietetics and Nutrition. Current research includes studies into insulin resistance, glycaemic index and its relationship with obesity.

Our Services

Services include dietary advice on:

  • Diabetes
  • Weight control including % fat measurements by skin fold calipers and % fat measurements by Bio-Impedance
  • Serum lipid reduction and management
  • Coeliac disease
  • Gastrointestinal disorders including Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Diverticular disease, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative colitis, Liver disease
  • Food allergies
  • Gout
  • Renal disease
  • Sports performance including event preparation, and carbohydrate loading.

It is a policy of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition to maintain continuous communication and reporting to the referring medical officer.

Dr David Mann also provides nursing home, private hospital or home visits upon the medical officer’s request. These visits can be arranged directly with Dr Mann on 0411 388 663.

In addition to the above services, the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition also assists in Policy and Procedure Manual formulation for accreditation of nursing homes and private hospitals.
